Pup-Head™ Information
Pup-Head™ will work
for your dog if you remember that some
behavior training is essential. You know
your dog best, and repetitive, positive
training (just like when they were a
puppy) will ensure that your dog will
begin using their Pup-Head™. This
process can take from several hours to
several days.
Training Tip: when
introducing Pup-Head™ to your dog (and
especially to puppies), do not let them
play with it or lay on it. The dog must
learn that the Pup-Head™ is ONLY a
potty, not a toy or a bed. Watch your
dog's initial behavior, and correct if
necessary.
NOTE: For health and
sanitary reasons, Pup-Heads are
non-returnable.
Product Care
The plastic receptacle
will hold almost 2 gallons of liquids.
Remove any solid waste from grass.
Remove Pup-Grass from grate and tray,
empty any liquid material. Put grate
back in tray and rinse thoroughly with
water. We recommend using an enzyme
product such as our Pup-Zymes Odor and
Stain Eliminator™ (see below). An
alternative is to use a solution of ¼
cup of household bleach to 5 gallons of
water. Soak mat for approximately 3
minutes and rinse with clean water. Hang
mat to allow water to drain off quickly
or place in dryer on air cycle for 20
minutes.
Pup-Zymes Odor and
Stain Eliminator™ is a blend of natural
enzymes and salts that will eliminate
any organic odor or stain. For odors,
Pup-Zymes™ chemically changes the source
of the odor and eliminates it. It does
not simply mask the odor. Pup-Zymes™ is
safe to use on any surface - concrete to
carpets - yet is so strong, it even
works on skunk odors. Pup-Zymes™ will
not harm people, pets, or plants.
Important: Pup-Zymes™ works by
chemically changing the source of the
odor. The solution MUST come in direct
contact with the source of the odor in
order to eliminate it.
Pup-Head™ FAQs
I have a male dog,
will he use it without a place to mark?
Many male dogs will
still lift their legs and urinate into
the air. Their intention is to mark
territory. Many other male dogs also
squat, when their intention is not to
mark, just to 'go'.
How often do I clean
it?
Everyone has different
standards for cleaning so it is really a
personal preference. We do recommend
picking up solids so your dog does not
step in their own waste and track it.
Is it easy to empty?
It is quite simple to
empty providing you do not let the
receptacle fill to the top with urine.
Remove the grass and drainage grate and
dispose of the urine outdoors or pour
down a drain.
How do I keep the
urine from spilling?
We recommend absorbing
the urine with our Pup-Pads microfiber
pads, or our disposable tray liners. You
may also use a small amount of kitty
litter, (crystal, not clay type)
newspapers, or paper towels.
Will the urine freeze
in the winter?
Yes, urine will
freeze, but it will not stick to the
bottom of the tray.
How long will the
grass last?
The Pup-Grass mat has
a lifetime warranty under normal use.
The warranty does not cover damage
caused by harsh chemicals or damage
caused from excessive digging, clawing,
or chewing.
After cleaning and
drying, brush the mat with a stiff brush
to raise the nap. This will promote
excellent drainage.
After washing, will
the scent disappear?
Yes, the attractant
will eventually fade because your dog
will cover the scent with their own.
This is known as marking. The reason our
attractant works so well is that dogs
want to replace the scent with their
own.
Will my dog stop
using it once the scent is washed away?
Not if he/she is used
to using a Pup-Head™.
Can I use it
outdoors, even in cold weather?
Extreme weather
conditions will not affect the
Pup-Head™.
Can I hose it down in
freezing weather?
As long as you have
running water you can hose it off in
freezing weather. You might want to let
it dry completely indoors so that the
unit does not freeze over before it
dries.
Can I take it on an
airplane?
Yes, Pup-Head™ fits
perfectly in the overhead storage
compartment.
How big is Pup-Head™?
20” X 30” X 1.1” for
the original size. 30"x40"x1.5 for the
large.
How much does
Pup-Head™ weigh?
Approximately 4.9 lbs
for the original size, about 7 lbs for
the large.
